Qualifications for Officer Positions

*be a member of PTK
*be in good standing with the college
*have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
*be enrolled full time (minimum of 12 credit hours)

Officer Responsibilities

President
Duties: Preside over all meetings; Appoint and establish any necessary committees; Serve as ex-officio member on all committees; Present business to the organization; Represent the organization at all times; Appoint a committee to review and/or revise the chapter bylaws annually; Appoint a committee to prepare the Annual Report to be sent to Headquarters each spring. The President may vote only in the case of a tie.

Vice President for Scholarship and Transfer
Duties: Facilitate scholarship trainings; Collaborates with transfer schools with the goal of bringing representatives to general meetings to discuss transfer process/PTK scholarships available at their institutions; Facilitates trainings on how to transfer successfully; Contribute to all executive board and general membership meetings; Contribute to chapter events; Contribute to the College Project Committee and/or Honors in Action Committee; May oversee the successful transfer of eligible students matriculating to Hudson Valley Community College from a different Phi Theta Kappa chapter.

Vice President for Fellowship and Service
Duties: Coordinates service events both on and off campus in collaboration with community members; Coordinates and executes all fellowship events that are inclusive for all PTK members; Contribute to all executive board and general membership meetings; Contribute to chapter events; Contribute to the College Project Committee and/or Honors in Action Committee.

Vice President for Public Relations
Duties: Keep a full record of chapter functions; Draft and submit press releases whenever possible to all area newspapers; Assist in the maintenance of the chapter website and social media; Submit to Regional Coordinator and Headquarters reports of chapter activities and Five-Star Chapter Update forms.

Treasurer
Duties: Make all necessary deposits at the student activities office and account for all fundraised money; Keep a set of books (i.e. spreadsheet) which shall be audited by the chapter advisor and notarized reflecting all chapter expenses before the office is relinquished; Make a report of finances at each business meeting; Chair the fundraising committee for Alpha Xi Sigma; Contribute to all executive board and general membership meetings; Contribute to chapter events; May contribute to the College Project Committee and/or Honors in Action Committee.

Secretary
Duties: Take attendance at meeting; Take and read the minutes of meetings; Maintain records of the meeting minutes; Compose agendas for both executive and general meetings to ensure that Robert’s Rules of Order are employed regularly to see the productivity of the society; Communicate regularly with all committee chairs and officers to provide updates to the general membership as well as gather necessary items for the meeting minutes and agendas; Chair the committee to prepare the Annual Report to be sent to Headquarters each spring; May collaborate with the VP of Public Relations to publish chapter news in the campus chronicle or feasible news sources including, but not limited to, the Hudsonian.
